cSprites is a good plugin to handle images request for Wordpress blog and convert all into compressed image sprite.
cSprites helps speed up your blog by reducing the number of requests made for images. When activated all images within a post will automatically be stitched up and displayed properly as compressed CSS sprites. Here’s the philosophy behind the mechanism:
There are a couple big benefits to doing this: First it reduces the number of HTTP requests that the browser has to make, by combining say 5 images into 1 big image, the number of image requests has been reduced by 4. This can increase the effeciency of page loading and you can see gains in the speed at which your page is loaded.
SEO won’t effected since we can alter text for attribute of IMG, you can add ALT or TITLE, you may decide it to you. For PHP 4.x or below, we can’t taste of the goodness of this plugin. One more thing is you should have GD library installed on your server (Apache, IIS, et cetera).
